The Trappings of Logic

I watch a lot of porn. But it's not why I don't make sustained eye contact. It's because I'm ugly. And if I look for "too long" women will call me "creepy." So I look, establish connection then look away. I don't need a call from HR. — Jack (@JackWolfman892) May 15, 2023 Read the whole thread, it’s tragic, but the saddest part is, the guy believes he’s behaving logically (Christian’s would call it worldly logic), and, like most people using worldly logic, his behavior may seem sensible at first glance. Ugly guy, likes sex, attractive girls are repulsed by him, so he turns to porn. I have a healthy relationship. And I'm going in for bariatric surgery at the end of the month. So that will help in some ways. But no, I'm not going to stop watching porn. I like sex, even if I can't participate in it. — Jack (@JackWolfman892) May 16, 2023 I'm old. I don't need to work on myself. I'll be dead soon enough. I'm also not w...

Corruption...For the Greater Good

Image
For those unfamiliar with the utter travesty on 13 May 23, I'll break it down. Referee Tony Weeks was involved in one of the most, IF NOT THE MOST, egregious displays of corruption combat sports has seen in the last decade, maybe even EVER. Watch the video, it starts at the 1 minute mark. Out the gate I’m saying it was pure corruption. The ENTIRE round, from the knockdown to the stoppage was pure corruption, the worst stoppage I’ve seen in the past decade, and, I’m sure if I sat and thought about it, I’d come to the conclusion it was the worst stoppage, EVER. There should be an investigation into the Weeks, especially after he let Badou Jack, who pretty much had the grand canyon on his forehead, continue to fight Marcus Browne. There, I said it. Its corrupt, there needs to be an investigation, original fight should be overturned and a rematch ordered. However...let's look at it from a different perspective. Rolly is a draw, not so much by himself, but he makes a good "vill...

Fast and Furious Series is the Best Litmus Test

Image
Tank?……No biggie Torretto jumping from overpass to overpass while catching a human like a football?……. I’m cool with that Flying Cars? …. Sure Paul Walker saying “cuh” No problem But when the hell did Ludacris turn into Jet Li? https://t.co/Yy2VT0i4s0 pic.twitter.com/AIHIIQaM4S — Craig (@_itsalwayscraig) May 14, 2023 I use the FF movies as litmus tests to see if people think too highly of themselves or take themselves too seriously. Two years ago, I was in the squadron BS'ing (as I often do) and one of the FF movies (probably 7 or 8) was coming out.  The subject of movies came up and I had said "New FF coming out this weekend. I love the FF movies. I'm there, DAY ONE!" Someone, guy, probably late twenties, looked up from his desk, a look of ANNOYANCE, SMUGNESS, ALMOST AS IF TO SAY HOW DARE ANYONE MENTION SUCH LOW BROW ENTERTAINMENT IN MY PRESENCE was written on his face. "I only watch documentaries and educational series." I looked at him dead in the eye....

Mid Life Crisis?

@sovereignbrah https://t.co/T2oZEABI1n pic.twitter.com/6bSlXVCWXQ — 🌞 (@czechbyblood) May 11, 2023 It's hard for me to relate to this, since, for the past 18 years I've had a blast while serving in the military. The camaraderie, travel, culture, and daily variety, i.e. the good experiences far exceeds the bad experiences I've had in the Air Force, so its difficult for me to relate to the above tweet, and I see variants of this concept a lot. It's become a trope at this point: the corporate 9-5'r stuck in the rat race fantasizing about a more exhilarating life.  Lately, "masculinity gurus" have used this trope to shame people .  The "masculinity gurus" are a little right, like not even half right, maybe an 1/8th right. If people are fantasizing about living a more exhilarating life, they should do something exhilarating. What they shouldn't do is quit their jobs and following the masculinity gurus advice. What they should do is stop workin...

Zuckerberg Rebrand

Image
Back in 2017, there were rumors Zuckerberg was making a presidential run. Some say there were rumors while others claim he was only 'testing the waters.' I think he was testing the waters, but either way, those rumors went away as fast as they appeared. Lately, clips of Zuckerberg training in combat sports started popping up , and with him being a billionaire who owns Facebook it’s safe to assume he's aware of how popular red pill content and people like Andrew Tate have become. I believe he's "training" in combat sports in an attempt to come across as more relatable with young men and the right wing...or I could be wrong and he's just doing this because he enjoys it. If he's training because he likes it, then more power to him and more people should follow his example.

Boxing, Nature, Nurture and Theology

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Adam Attia (@theattia) Seems like its a combination of nature and nurture. The old adage that boxing is a "poor mans sport" that only attracts poor, stupid, violent low borns, is proven wrong more and more. How many more Oscar De La Hoyas, Ryan Garcias, and these twins, who come from a middle class background, do we have to see before that myth can be dispelled. How many "rough kids" who come from well off suburban areas do we have to see before we understand that environment (while it plays a role) isn't wholly responsible for shaping a human and ultimately, we are all born with different characteristics.  What does theology have to do with this? Well, I believe God created us all with specific characteristics.  He did not create us as "blank slates." More on this later.

Your Legacy is a Currency

Image
Nico Ali Walsh is, at best, an average boxer, and were it not for him being Muhammad Ali's grandson, would not have been signed to Top Rank. Muhammad Ali's legacy was great, that his grandson is reaping the benefits. Nico wouldn't be anywhere NEAR a major card if he was some nobody, but the fact his grandfather was one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport, is literally the only reason Nico Ali Walsh's fights are televised. This isn't a bad thing, it just is what it is. A lot of people think of generational wealth as money, and it is, but it isn't just that, its also your legacy. You've heard it before, "how you live echoes in eternity" or something like that, and while it isn't literally true, there is a hint of truth in it. If you live well now, then later down the line, when your grandkids need something and some guy helps him out because of what YOU did in his life, when they need a good job or a recommendation and some friend ...

Books I'm Reading

Let There be Gaslight, Brady Goodwin Jr. Toll of Hounds, Steven Erikson   I finished Books 3 and 4 of the Sun Eater series and there were (chefs kiss) phenomenal. Goodness those books were good. As of now, I’m waiting until book 6 comes out before I start Ashes of Man because I hate cliff hangers. I’ll also be doing a critique on Goodwin’s book, since (and I could be wrong), based upon context and history, it is responsible for a lot of people in the urban Christian community “deconstructing.” I can say, based off the first 2 chapters, the book doesn’t break any new ground, but we’ll see. Considering everything I'm doing, two books is all I can manage at the moment.

The Worst Anime Protagonist

Breaking: After 25 years, 10-year-old Ash Ketchum is now the Pokémon world champion. Ketchum becomes the world's top trainer after winning the Masters Eight Tournament. pic.twitter.com/eFylTz1yv0 — SportsNation (@SportsNation) November 11, 2022 Ash Ketchum is the worst anime protagonist ever. Naruto became Hokage, Goku practically became the Super Saiyan god, but it took Ash 25 years to become a Pokemon world champion. He's trash.

Excuses

Image
Tank knocks out Garcia with a thunderous left hand to the body and Garcia takes a knee then gets up right after the ten count and whats the first thing people scream? “EXCUSES!” “HE QUIT!” Later it came out that Garcia had a rib injury prior to the fight, even went to the hospital for it, but still chose to fight anyway and, in all honesty, hurt Tank in the 3 rd round. What’s this have to do with excuses? The word excuse is loaded and automatically comes with negative baggage. We’ve all heard it from our parents. “That’s an excuse!” or “Stop making excuses!” Automatically assuming every excuse is bad is wrong because there are good excuses and bad excuses. “I’m late for work I had car trouble,” is a good excuse. “I’m late for work because I overslept,” is a bad excuse. “I couldn’t make the ten count because not only did I get hit in the liver, it also hit my rib which was hurt before the fight,” is a pretty damn good excuse and should be treated as such. What a...

On Bullying

Image
When it comes to bullying, I tell my kids to match the bully. If the bully talks trash, you talk trash, if they talk about your mother, you talk about their mother, but if they put their hands on you, end the fight immediately, punch them, kick them, double leg, back take, rear naked choke. In this instance, my kid would’ve (hopefully) known to take the other kids’ picture and tear it. Match. The other part I’d like to highlight is the argument between Creed and his wife. When they’re talking to the teacher, Creed asks the relevant questions, “Why is my daughter in trouble? Why is the kid picking on my daughter?” because he’s trying to figure out a solution. Creed is a boxer, and he comes from high honor culture, where the rules are simple. Figure out the solution and keep it moving. The wife, however, is in the music industry and primarily handling the children, so she understands bureaucracy and political games...
