Excuses

Tank knocks out Garcia with a thunderous left hand to the body and Garcia takes a knee then gets up right after the ten count and whats the first thing people scream?

“EXCUSES!” “HE QUIT!”

Later it came out that Garcia had a rib injury prior to the fight, even went to the hospital for it, but still chose to fight anyway and, in all honesty, hurt Tank in the 3rd round.

What’s this have to do with excuses?

The word excuse is loaded and automatically comes with negative baggage. We’ve all heard it from our parents. “That’s an excuse!” or “Stop making excuses!”

Automatically assuming every excuse is bad is wrong because there are good excuses and bad excuses.

“I’m late for work I had car trouble,” is a good excuse.

“I’m late for work because I overslept,” is a bad excuse.

“I couldn’t make the ten count because not only did I get hit in the liver, it also hit my rib which was hurt before the fight,” is a pretty damn good excuse and should be treated as such.

What am I trying to say here?

Don’t be afraid of making excuses, as long as theyre good ones.

Anyway…
