Steroids or Skill?

Debloss’s “admission” brings up some interesting questions. Are the older generation able to keep up with the younger generation because of TRT? In jiu jitsu, where drug testing is very lax, probably, but UFC and boxing, I doubt it. VADA is ruthless.

I win a lot of my boxing matches, but I don’t take TRT. I can’t, because the military does drug tests. Have I fought people on TRT? Absolutely I have, but I have no problem beating them because I’ve got more skill.

At the end of the day, skill beats everything, but when people are equally skilled, any advantage helps, but if Debloss is correct (I have no doubt he is) then there’s no advantage because they’re all doing it.

In a way, I think this proves my point. If skill is the only thing that matters, and the old guys are beating the young guys, even if they are on steroids, doesn’t that mean the old guys have more skill? And if skill is the only thing that matters, that means, in theory (theory crafting!) the old guys should beat the young guys.

It’s still food for thought.
