A Solid Foundatoin
Matthew 7:24-27
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
"Always on top of your base," Which is another way of saying, "You need to have a firm foundation." When you don't have a solid foundation you're off balance, which means your offense, your defense, every thing is weaker, and it's not just fighting. This applies to your life. A solid foundation is critical. Not only does having a weak foundation leave you off balance, but leaning forward over your base shows impatience and a body out of sync with the mind. Your mind is saying "GO!" but only half your body reacts, which means you need more training, more conditioning, or, more fortitude. In boxing as it is in life.
