The Osmosis Effect

Image
In boxing, the osmosis effect is when a less experienced or less skilled boxer gets better by training with or competing against a more experienced or more skilled boxer. The better the opposing boxer, the faster the less experienced boxer levels up.  I’ve known about this concept forever, but it can be applied to anything. Writing, fishing, photography; and the most important aspect of the osmosis effect is the more experience person doesn’t even have to instruct the less experienced one. Just being around someone better, seeing how they operate, is enough. Proverbs 27:17: As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another

Rewarding Inaction

Image
It’s not just SPD that has this attitude “The culture that supervisors instilled was that an officer cannot get in trouble for not doing anything but can get in trouble, via OPA (Office of Police Accountability), for attempting to do the right thing and the situation going poorly,” the officer continued. This has been rampant in the military for decades. It’s a simple risk assessment. One can 100% avoid trouble by avoiding as much work as possible, or one can attempt to work, risk getting in trouble for doing the right thing. Even worse, doing the right thing is no guarantee of reward. Why should someone do work and risk getting fired, for little to no reward, when they can do no work and 100% avoid getting in trouble? It's a no brainer.  In aircraft maintenance, it's rarely the people who do work that get rewarded or promoted, but its always the people who do work who get QA fails, additionally, its rarely the people who do work that get rewarded or promoted, but its always...

The Highest Honor

Image
This is awesome. Yoshi-P says FFXIV Dawntrail was delayed a bit because he wants to play the Elden Ring DLC like everyone else. 😂🔥 Erdtree - June 21st Dawntrail - June 28th Early Access https://t.co/9pwohLvqev — Kami (@Okami13_) March 23, 2024 This video literally made me go buy Elden Ring on my Steam Deck, despite already having it on my PS4. Why?  One, I don't play my PS4 anymore. Two, Yoshi is delaying the release of their own game by a week because they recognize how good of a game Elden Ring is. Three, Yoshi is a gamer. He actually likes games. So he gets it. He understands gamers because he himself is a gamer, which means HES GOING TO BE PLAYING IT TO. When I box and my opponents talk about how they can't hit me, about how my defense is so good, I can't help but nod as my chest kinda swells with pride. The highest honor, aside from God's, is the praise of your rivals.

Representation in Gaming

This is actually really cool pic.twitter.com/5OigMM4mWn — Jesse🌹 (@_WarriaR) March 22, 2024 As I said before. In the late 90's early 2000's, it wasn't about what the protagonists looked like. It wasn't about their skin tone. It was about the characteristics they embodied, or the adventure, or the story, or in this case, the friends one makes while playing the game. The most ironic part about about this entire situation is he's using a game, where the protagonist is covered in armor and you don't even see his face, to escape IRL bullying and racism. He didn't care master chief wasn't black or white. It didn't matter. What mattered was the friends he made, not the skin color of the characters in the game.

Talent Covers a Multitude of Sins

Image
Before I start, chill out Christians. I don't mean this literally. Its only a phrase. Only Jesus can cover (forgive) sin. With that out of the way... As I've explained before; talent covers a multitude of sins. If you're good enough, NO ONE CARES about anything. If you have enough Talent, y ou can literally crash into a pregnant woman and flee the scene while high out of your mind, and people will still support you.   Whether its athletes or singers cheating on their wives, punching old men , drugging women (Bill Cosby), the list goes on and on, and that isn't only modern times. No. It seems, throughout human history, those who have tremendous talent seem to enjoy tremendous support. Benvenuto Cellini   Sometime later, Cellini stabbed and killed another of his rivals, a fellow goldsmith called Pompeo de Capitaneis. This one we know happened for real because details of the murder were recorded in official documents. And so, Cellini went into exile once more until the po...

An Honest Look at DEI

Image
This isn’t about whether or not DEI is needed (that’s a whole different post for a whole different day) rather this post is about whether or not DEI in this iteration actually helps minorities in the gaming space. The whole SBI/Gamergate 2 drama made me realize something, and apparently, I've been circling around this realization for quite some time , but I didn't fully realize it until the whole SBI/Gamergate 2 drama kicked off. Since its inception, DEI and SJW's have made it worse for minorities in the creative business. I grew up in the late 90's early 2000's and there was a plethora, and abundance of minority characters everywhere, and no one cared. Every fighting game had women and minorities fighting on equal ground with everyone else. So what if Mario and Zelda rescued the princess? Marle from Chrono Trigger didn't need to be rescued, neither did Ayla. The Androids in DBZ? the women in Naruto? Celes and Tifa in the Final Fantasy games. I could go on and ...

What is it about this expression that presents so many red flags?
